ABOUT US
Hello, I'm Glenda and I studied Knitwear Design at Nottingham Trent University followed by being an assistant product developer at Marks and Spencer Head Office (1997-2000) - coordinating and delivering presentations of each season’s menswear ranges to the press department:
I subsequently studied for a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and have been teaching Art and Design & Textiles in schools and, colleges in London and Hertfordshire. I also practice yoga and design yoga wear for both men and women.
Having a background in fashion design, I wanted to share my experience with other like-minded people who had an interest in fashion (whether it was a desire to create their own clothes or wanted to have the ability to do their own alterations on existing garments).
I started teaching my classes in a local church annex and my dining room. Today I run classes from my purpose-built studio.
Stitch Amazingly was commissioned by Brent Museum and Archives to deliver a series of three textile-based workshops and textile art pieces, involving members of the local community, in response to the theme of Being Alive, and the sub-themes of faith, religion and spirituality. These textile art pieces were displayed as part of the project exhibition in June 2023.
I am really excited about new people joining us and have welcomed back former as well as current members with new projects that they've always wanted to create.
A big thank you to all our members who have expressed their joy in coming along and learning something new together, each time they come along.
